Another great day in Spanish class! We learned new classroom procedure vocabulary. We also talked about Spanish-speaking countries and labeled a map. We talked about what Hispanic people look like and why someone might want to leave their home country to come to the United States. We started a documentary called "Living on $1 a Day". Homework: 1. We took a test today on Chapter 2. Students also researched the University of Salamanca and a famous Spaniard. There is extra credit on Google Classroom which is due on Wednesday 10/25/17. The students will watch a video and answer a few questions. We will being Chapter 3 on Monday. Did you see today's Google Doodle? It honors Selena Quintanilla. Here's what one of the creators from Google said about her: "Today we celebrate Selena Quintanilla: Mexican-American music & entertainment icon, fashion trendsetter, passionate entrepreneur, community philanthropist, and one of the people who taught me growing up that no matter who you are or where you come from, anything is possible." My middle school students and I have started a post card writing project through www.postcrossing.com. Postcrossing generates random address of other members and we can send them a postcard. We have been sending post cards all across the world - Portugal, UK, Germany, Taiwan, Finland, Russia, Japan, India, Australia, South Korea. We have been receiving some as well - Germany, Australia, Taiwan, Brazil, Belgium, Canada, and the US. You can see some of the post cards below. Ask your student about this project. We love sending and receiving post cards!
We reviewed -AR verbs to prepare for tomorrow's quiz. We also learned about la UNAM and compared American universities with a university in Mexico City.

Students had a chance to re do a section on the Leccion 1 Test today in class. Those will be graded soon and grades will be updated.
We learned about schools in Mexico today and some classes learned how to conjugate -AR verbs. We reviewed how to tell time in Spanish and did lots of practice.
